Hello CSTF community,
We’re actively seeking dedicated individuals to join CSTF’s Board of Directors and help provide governance leadership for our mission of digital self-determination through open-source, self-hosted technologies.
What we’re looking for:
Board members who combine traditional nonprofit governance expertise with deep commitment to our principles of transparent, community-driven decision-making. We need people who can provide strategic oversight while ensuring our governance reflects the autonomy and community empowerment we seek to enable through our work.
Key areas where we especially need expertise:
-
Nonprofit governance and 501(c)(3) compliance
-
Digital rights, open-source ecosystems, or technology policy
-
Civil society leadership and community organizing
-
Partnership development with aligned organizations
-
Fundraising and resource development
-
Organizational development and strategic planning
What you’d be doing:
As a board member, you’d provide fiduciary oversight, strategic guidance, and community representation while helping us build partnerships within the vibrant ecosystem of civil society organizations. This includes everything from ensuring legal compliance to guiding our technology initiatives like Wild Cloud, education programs, and community engagement efforts.
Board service involves monthly virtual meetings (~2 hours), annual strategic planning sessions, and participation in the transparent governance processes that reflect our values.
